Price Bailey EBF Stallios Fillies’s Handicap

Angel Vision ran a subsequently decent maiden effort last season as a 2 year old when 4th behind Fadhayyil (finished 2nd in Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot since) before winning on her reappearance at Newmarket. Her first run in a handicap appeared disappointing when beaten 5 lengths by Sahaafy however the form has since worked out well with Sahaafy now rated 99, and 3rd having won only yesterday off a mark of 80 in very easy fashion. Angel Vision after being beaten then contested another handicap at Newmarket and this time was far too good for her rivals and although she […]

Weatherbys VAT Services Pipalong Stakes

Pontefract 15:10

Temptress was last season finishing 2nd when advised by this blog in the Royal Hunt Cup just going down to GM Hopkins (also advised by the blog) at Royal Ascot. Going into that Temptress had shown some smart form and was rapidly progressing including when winning on her reappearance at Ascot beating Spirit Raiser (1st and 2nd since) and Amazing Maria (3rd and 1st since – the win in a Group 2). She was probably a bit unlucky in the Royal Hunt Cup as held up right out the back she was always travelling well and had to switch right to the far side rail […]

Meccas Angel was a revelation last year winning 4 of her 5 runs including a Listed and a Group 3 event at Doncaster and Newbury respectively. She made very pleasing reappearance when winning at Longchamp by 4 lengths from Robert Le Diable who finished a good 2nd in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot. Meccas Angel was withdrawn from Royal Ascot due to the fast ground and it’s not guaranteed she will run here but if she does then surely she is the one to beat on known form.

Waady is the one likely to give her the biggest run for her money and this […]

Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby

Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby

The Irish Derby has been won 9 times in the last 10 years by Aiden O’Brien.

Jack Hobbs finished 2nd in the English Derby behind Golden Horn and ran really well that day. He sat in about 5th for most of the race before making his move on the outside with a couple of furlongs to go, he was followed very quickly by Golden Horn who sprinted past. Jack Hobbs didn’t stop late on and was running all the way to the line. This followed on to finishing 2nd in the Dante again behind Golden Horn and so his form stacks up. Being a Halling Colt he […]

Newcastle 15:45 John Smith’s Northumberland Plate

The feature race at Newcastle is the Northumberland Plate which Dr Koukash owned the first 2 home and both are back this year.

Oasis Fantasy was one of the eyecatchers of the Epsom Derby festival when a fast finishing 3rd behind Blue Surf. After being drawn wide he was dropped in by Richard Hughes and was travelling well turning into the straight but was met by a wall of horses and it took a long time before Hughes was able to switch out wide and finish really well. This good effort backed up his previous 2nd over 1m6f at Goodwood when he was just unable to […]

Pontefract 15:40 Totepool Pontefract Castle Stakes

After a great Royal Ascot and 30 points profit from our 5 blog posts we are going to keep these going.

Connecticut was highly progressive last year and looks a horse that can continue his rise through the ranks this year. After an eyecatching debut at Newmarket in a good maiden on Fielden Stakes day he followed up on his 2nd start in a maiden when winning at Newbury in a maiden featuring horses who have shown plenty since including Astronereus (3rd off 100 at Royal Ascot), Rembrandt Van Rijn (easy winner off 90) and Moohaarib (now rated 115). After 2 subsequent wins he was stepped […]

Royal Ascot Day 5
The final day of Royal Ascot and it’s been great for the ratings!

Chesham Stakes

Tonkinese finished 3rd on debut when not really fancied before stepping up on this really nicely next time out to win at Leopardstown on faster ground which he is likely to run on again. The step up in distance also appeared to suit. When 3rd he chased home Air Force Blue (2nd at Royal Ascot) and Rockaway Valley (easy winner since) and the form looks very strong. Authorized progeny have a good record at Ascot and James Doyle should give this Godolphin owned Colt a good ride.

Ballydoyle is expected to be a decent horse […]

Royal Ascot Day 4

Day 4 features the newly created Commonwealth Cup and looks to be one of the races of the whole meeting.

Albany Stakes

Laxfield Road is our TOP RATED runner and her win on debut was a good one when showing blistering speed over 4f in the USA. She steps up in distance here but the American horses have looked fantastic this week and have so much early speed this could be very vital in a race of 2 year olds. Frankie rides this one and she should go well. Quality Road has only had one runner here and it won which is encouraging.

Azhar was only moderate on debut but […]

Royal Ascot Day 3 Preview

Day 3 features the Ascot Gold Cup as well as the Tercentary Stakes where the Queen could well have a winner in Peacock.

Norfolk Stakes

King of Rooks was 3rd on debut to Steady Pace with Beaverbrook in 2nd (finished 3rd and 4th at Royal Ascot respectively) before improving significantly for this run when stepped up in distance at Newbury. Making most of the running he quickened away well to win by 6 lengths in a maiden which had previously been won by Canford Cliffs. He was stepped up in class to a Listed race at Sandown and won this very impressively. Buratino was back in 2nd with […]

Royal Ascot Day 2

After a great day for the Ratings and this blog with Solow @ 13/8, Buratino @ 9/1, Gleneagles @ 8/11, Clondaw Warrior @ 8/1, Washington DC @ 11/2 all winning with Air Force Blue @ 8/1 and Steady Pace @ 7/1 finishing in the places, we are hoping for more of the same on day 2.

Jersey Stakes

Ivawood has finished 3rd in his 3 runs this season so far including in both the English and Irish guineas and this is a marked dropped in class and a reproduction of his recent runs and he is sure to take all the beating, especially with the drop back to 7f […]
