Today there is racing at Doncaster, Lingfield, Market Rasen, Newbury, Newmarket, Ripon and Tramore and some high class races.

The feature race at Ripon today is the William Hill Great St Wilfred Stakes over 6f.

Nuno Tristan has been running well recently winning at Redcar easily before finishing 5th to Librisa Breeze at Ascot in the Gigaset International Stakes and then he finished 3rd at Glorious Goodwood in the Stewards Cup Consolation race behind Hoof It and Related. He didn’t get the clearest of runs that day and may well have won with a clear run. He’s been raised 1lb for that 3rd place but with Adam McNamara not riding today and claiming 5lb he is effectively 6lb higher. Related who was 2nd has been raised 3lb for finishing 2nd and it should be close between these 2 however the consistency of Nuno Tristan is encouraging. Nuno Tristan can be backed @ 10/1

Intisaab comes into this race in good form with 2 wins and 3 2nd’s in his last 5 runs. He has been raised another 1lb for his defeat to Kimberella last time out at York (Related was behind Intisaab in 3rd and is 5lb worse off). He’s never that fast away but was slower than normal last time out and then switched across from the near side group to the far side group although not as far the winner and 2nd were right on the far side. He was never able to get there but finished a good 2nd and is well drawn today. Kimberella has since been raised 6lb for that win compared to the 1 of Intisaab and he will probably reverse this form if he jumps out better. Intisaab can be backed @ 9/1

Orions Bow won 5 on the bounce before finishing 2nd in the Stewards Cup last time out to Dancing Star who is very highly regarded and is surely a Group horse in the making. Orions Bow travelled ominously well but wasn’t good enough to beat Dancing Star. He’s been raised another 9lb for this up to a mark of 106 having started his winning run off just 69. This additional 9lb wont make things easy for Orions Bow and this could be enough to stop him from winning but he is sure to run another big race. Barry McHugh’s record of 2/41 at this course since 2014 would be a worry as well. Orions Bow can be backed @ 9/2

Over at Newbury there is the Betfred Geoffrey Freer Stakes (Group 3) and this features King’s Fete who was a recent winner at Glorious Goodwood. Kings Fete was backed off the boards that day and he was the only one able to run down Ayrad who got the run of the race at the front setting his own fractions. All of his rivals that day except Majeed were rated higher than his rivals today and despite now carrying a Group 3 penalty he should be able to back up here. King’s Fete can be backed @ 10/11.

The feature race at Newbury is the Betfred Hungerford Stakes and this features Home of the Brave who finished 2nd at Glorious Goodwood behind Dutch Connection. This was his first defeat of the season but he was unable to dominate that day due to stablemate Gifted Master going on. Although Jallotta made all last time out this was in a 3 runner race and I don’t think he’ll want to go forward this time and Home of the Brave should be able to dominate and would be very hard to pass. Home of the Brave can be backed @ 6/4

Convey
looks the main danger to Home of the Brave and he won last time out for the first time since 2014 when winning at Pontefract in a Listed race. This is a step back up and he takes on Home of the Brave again having previously been beaten by him at Haydock back in May. There was only a neck between them that day however Home of the Brave had already beaten off other rivals before Convey was delivered late. Home of the Brave won slightly more easy that it appeared. Convey can be backed @ 5/2

One other that really catches our eye is Eternally who runs at Lingfield in a Fillies Handicap at 6:35. She’s only had 4 runs in her career and her form already looks Listed class or above. She finished 3rd to Opal Tiara 2 runs ago in a Listed race and although she has disappointed since, the runner up Red Box has gone and won a Listed race at Ascot albeit in controversial circumstances. Eternally was then fancied to run a big race at Newmarket on her next start and she did. This was despite racing keenly early on and then not getting a clear run. This meant the winner got first run and that was Mise En Rose who has since finished 2nd in a Group 3 and is rated 12lb higher. Eternally has only been raised 3lb and with a clear she should take all the beating in this race where her rivals look to have found their mark. Eternally can be backed @ 11/10
