Galileo Gold vs The Gurkha vs Awtaad

The Qatar Sussex Stakes is the feature race on Day 2 of Glorious Goodwood and it looks like a rematch between St James Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot where Galileo Gold held off the fast finishing The Gurkha having already outbattled Awtaad. Awtaad had previously beaten Galileo Gold at Curragh for the Irish 2000 Guineas and Galileo Gold had gone into that race having won the English 2000 Guineas whilst The Gurkha had won the French 2000 Guineas! So we had 3 Guineas winners all in 1 race and once again they reoppose here at Goodwood!

Since there amazing race at Royal Ascot, The Gurkha has since gone to Sandown to run in the Coral Eclipse over 1m2f and having travelled ominously well he appeared to not stay that day and the drop back in distance looks ideal.

At Royal Ascot Galileo Gold beat The Gurkha however many believe that the latter was unlucky that day having not got a clear run before eventually getting out far too late.

Awtaad comfortably beat Galileo Gold at Curragh however he was clear 3rd best at Royal Ascot and it may be that Galileo Gold didn’t give Awtaad enough respect on their first run at Curragh.

When they all clashed at Royal Ascot Galileo Gold was having his 7th run of his career, Awtaad was having his 6th whilst The Gurkha only his 4th and had only been on the racecourse as a 3 year old and may have lacked some race experience.

Having now found his trip over 1m and with a clear run, I (RTR-Liam) believe The Gurkha can reverse the form with Galileo Gold whilst Awtaad is likely to finish 3rd again behind them.

The Gurkha can currently be backed @ 15/8 and I can see him going off nearer 5/4 or even as short as Even money.
