Horses To Follow – Flat Season 2020!

Hopefully I can highlight some great winners this season when racing returns and I am confident there are some nice types in these that should win races for us.

Raymond Tusk– trained by Richard Hannon

Raymond Tusk is currently 50/1 for the Ebor and I think this is a ridiculous price, not only because he ran a very unlucky 4th in the race last year but his owners have already said that returning to this race is something they are very keen on. Who wouldn’t though, with the prize money for the Ebor being massive! I will be watching his preparation very closely. Last year a mark 6lb lower would have got him into the Ebor and if he returned off a 3lb lower mark, I can see him going very very close. His season may be geared around 1 race but I feel he’s worth adding to this list.

Skardu – trained by William Haggas

Skardu ran some good races last season without hitting the headlines including finishing 3rd in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, 4th in the Irish 2000 Guineas at Curragh and 4th at Royal Ascot in the St James’s Palace Stakes. He arguably disappointed on his final start of the season when only 4th at Goodwood in a Group 2. He arguably doesn’t need to find much to win a Group 1 this season and could be started off quietly in a Group 3 or Group 2 race somewhere, however with Royal Ascot potentially in mid-June, the Queen Anne Stakes could well be one of his ‘early’ season targets. He looks one that needs a really strong pace and against opposition that will this year include older horses, he should get a race or two where this strong pace sets it up nicely for him. He’s generally strong in the finish and we may see him try 1m2f before too long.
