A Day for Quiet Reflection

On Friday 17th June 2016 it was FREE RATINGS Friday and the ratings had a good day with 21 TOP RATED winners at a strike rate of 38.89%.

These TOP RATED winners included both Qemah @ 8.00 BFSP and Quiet Reflection @ 3.14 BFSP who were both winners at Royal Ascot.

Quiet Reflection was a very impressive winner and was even more important to one of our members Andy Smith.

Andy Smith selected 4 TOP RATED runners at the beginning of the day and put them in a Yankee. They were Il Presidente @ 9/4, Quiet Reflection @ 6/4, For ā€˜N’ Against @ 6/4 and Shahaama @ 9/4.

The Yankee kicked off at 2:10 with Il Presidente and after travelling well throughout for Tom O’Brien he was asked to make his move at the 2nd last, by the last he had just about hit the front and without really getting serious on him, Il Presidente and Tom were able to come away and win by 1 ½ lengths. Having drifted out to 5/2 this was the perfect start.

The Group 1 Commonwealth Cup and Quiet Reflection was the 2nd leg of the yankee and despite shortening early in the day to 6/4 from 13/8 that Andy had backed her at she drifted slightly late on out to 7/4. This drift was surely just punters taking value in the others and not a weakness about Quiet Reflection. At Halfway Dougie Costello was still riding a waiting race aboard Quiet Reflection and it wasn’t until inside the final furlong that she was asked to go and win the race and she picked up really well. The wayward Kachy probably aided her cause but Quiet Reflection was by far the best horse in the race. 2 BOG winners and already the double stood at 8.62/1

It was back to Market Rasen for the 3rd leg in the David Pipe trained For ā€˜N’ Against who again drifted slightly to 13/8. In just a 4 runner race he was asked to track She’s Late until the 4th fence when Tom Scuadmore decided to go on. From there he got his rivals in trouble relatively easily and when his main market rival fell 2 out when held and She’s Late dropping away tamely it was left to the outsider of 4 to put up the biggest challenge to For ā€˜N’ Against but he was never going to get overhauled and this win made it 3/3 in the Yankee for Andy. As well as 2 doubles, the treble was 24.27/1 and a reasonable profit was in the bag.

It was only 4:40 and the final leg wasn’t until 8:55 so a nervous few hours ensued.

The final leg was at 8:55 at Goodwood and was Shahaama who was a Mick Channon filly that was going to be ridden by Freddie Tylicki. After chasing the leader (Iceaxe) who was RTR 3 she moved into the lead approaching the final furlong. With a strong drive by Freddie Tylicki she was not to be denied and held on from the fast finishing Caitie (RTR2) with long time leader Iceaxe dropping to 3rd. This meant the ratings had secured a straight tricast worth £31.26 and Andy had landed his 4 timer.

Andy had turned his £16.50 into a fantastic £370.28 and recorded a nice profit of £353.78 with 4 TOP RATED winners!

Congratulations!
