The Last Winning Mark card
The Last Winning Mark card surfaces today's handicap runners that are racing off, or below, the mark they last won a handicap off, one of the oldest and most reliable angles in the game.
Every horse in a handicap runs off an Official Rating (OR), its mark. When a horse wins a handicap it does so off a particular mark, and a horse now rated at or below that winning mark is, in the old phrase, "well in". The Last Winning Mark card, on the Today Stats tab of your dashboard, finds those horses for you every day. It's a Professional feature.
The four angles
The card looks at every one of today's handicap runners and splits them across four tabs:
- Off their last winning mark, rated today on exactly the mark they last won a handicap off.
- Below their last winning mark, rated lower than when they last won, so they're well in at the weights.
- Off their course winning mark, on the mark they last won off at today's course.
- Below their course winning mark, rated lower than that course-winning mark.
Each row shows today's race and result, the horse's current mark, the mark it last won off (Last 1st Mark), the winning race and when, and the RTR Rank we gave it the day it won (Rank When Won), so you can see the quality of the winning run, not just the number. A Yesterday / Today / Tomorrow toggle lets you look ahead or back, and every column sorts.
Like for like
The marks are always compared code for code: a Flat win only counts for a Flat race today, all-weather for all-weather, hurdles for hurdles, chases for chases, because those are separate handicap ladders. Wins only count when they came in handicaps. So a horse "below its last winning mark" really is well in against comparable company, not flattered by a win in a different discipline.
On the racecard too
The same figure appears on every racecard as the LWOR (Last Winning OR) column, right next to OR, with the winning race on hover. So you can spot a well-in horse from the card as well as from the dashboard. Both are defined in the ratings columns reference.
