What is the R1 Rank?
R1 Rank orders every horse in the race by its most recent run (R1) figure. Apply it from the Group by menu.
R1 Rank
R1 Rank is simply the R1 score for each horse in a race turned into a rank. The horse with the highest R1 score in the race is R1 Rank 1, the next highest is R1 Rank 2, and so on.
You can rank the field by it from the Group by menu, just choose R1 Rank:

An example
Take the Prince of Wales's Stakes (the race we've used throughout). Here are the ratings sorted by R1, Ombudsman top on 175.1, then Daryz, Almaqam and Dancing Gemini:

Ombudsman tops it because his most recent run, 175.1, was the highest R1 figure in the race. Look at the RTR Rank column alongside it, it's no longer in order: Dancing Gemini jumps up to 4th on R1 despite sitting 7th on the overall RTR Rank, his last run (162.8) was much sharper than his older form would suggest.
Why R1 Rank is useful
Because R1 is the most recent run score, R1 Rank lets you instantly see which horse posted the best last-time-out figure, a quick way to spot the runner arriving in the sharpest current form. It complements the broader AV3 and AV10 ranks, which average several runs, and builds on the underlying R figures (R1–R10). You'll also find R1 Rank as a filter inside ProStats.
