It’s a little way away but the Stewards Cup is surely the plan!
After finishing 2nd last week, Ejtilaab went one better at Epsom when just getting up over 6f. He’s been raised 5lb for that but would still be of interest over 6 1/2 – 7f races!

Jawwaal (Michael Dods) dropped 1lb to 92
Jawwaal made this list a few weeks ago when finishing 7th of 17 at York behind Copper Knight. Sunday Sovereign also made this list from that race and he has since finished a good 2nd at 20/1 but Jawwaal was disappointing on his next start. That came at Windsor where he was up against it before the race even started. He was keen and a handful down to post and then raced keenly for a long way in the race itself. Despite this , he was still trying to get involved when he was forced wider and wider off the rail before the gap closed on him and Hollie gave up. If he can settle on the way to post, in the race and get a clear run next time , I think he will go very close off a mark of 92. Just 2lb higher than when winning a good handicap at Ascot in July 2020 and it would be no surprise to see him go back again for that race this year.
Kimifive (Joseph Tuite) dropped 1lb to 91
Kimifive is unlikely to get into the Wokingham after finishing 3rd at Epsom and dropping 1lb but that might not be a bad thing. A mark of 91 means he is now 1lb LOWER than when finishing 2nd in the Stewards Cup at Goodwood behind Summerghand who is now competing in Listed and Group races. Kimifive I thought ran a perfectly reasonable race at Epsom when arguably getting too far behind (which he can do) before running on strongly. Only Ejtilaab was finishing stronger and at Epsom it can tricky to pick up from a held up position over this 6f trip. As well as finishing 2nd in a Stewards Cup last year, he has also finished 10th in the 2019 Stewards Cup but didn’t get a clear run and would have finished much closer if he had. This is surely his target again this season.
Australis (Roger Varian) dropped 2lb to 90
Australis was dropped another 2lb on the turf to 90 after finishing 4th over 1m4f. He raced just behind the pace but was unable to pick up as well as some of the others when they started to quicken which for a horse who generally runs his best races over 2m isn’t really that much of a surprise. He had raced over 2m at Newbury on his first run on the turf in a while and although his jockey arguably got the tactics right, the race didn’t work out as they went far too fast up front and paid for it late on with those ridden patiently picking up strongly. In just those 2 runs, Australis has dropped 7lb which I think will end up being too much next time out over a 2m trip.
Marie’s Diamond (Mark Johnston) dropped 2lb to 105
Marie’s Diamond again disappointed in a Group 3 and hopefully they give up on these Group races and drop into handicap company very soon. If he doesn’t run in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot (finished 3rd in a Group 1 at Royal Ascot), I hope his season is aimed around running at Newmarket in the Cambridgeshire in September. They’ve run 5 times at Newmarket and finished 41432 and all at Listed level or above.
