Sandown Park – NAP Competition Sponsor

We are delighted to announce that @SandownPark will be sponsoring the NAP Competition twice in the near future.

Sandown Racecourse

One of Liam’s favourite courses to attend, Sandown is a course used all year round with both National Hunt Racing and Flat racing taking place. Some of the feature National Hunt Races run at Sandown include the London National, Bet365 Gold Cup and the Imperial Cup on the Saturday before the Cheltenham Festival.

Sandown is also the home to the fantastic Royal Artillery Gold Cup and Grand Military Gold Cup and it’s these 2 days that tickets are available for.

Last year the Royal Artillery Gold Cup was won by David Pipe trained Rathlin Rose with the horse being given a great ride by Captain Guy Disney. This was the 2nd time he had won this race and had also won the Grand Military Gold Cup in 2017. Upon winning this race in 2017 he became the first jockey to win a race having been fitted with a prosthetic limb.

His life changing injury occurred in Helmand Province in 2009 when his vehicle was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade. We thoroughly recommend attending these days if you do not win the tickets as they are a fantastic day and it’s great to see so many Military jockeys riding in these races.

The Grand Military Gold Cup in 2018 saw Captain Guy Disney and Rathlin Rose return to Sandown to try and do an incredible double double and ran a great race but just found 1 too good with the Nicky Henderson trained and Lieutenant Billy Aprahamian ridden Baden taking the spoils.
