Who is your horse to follow in 2022?
This is open to everyone so get your names and reasoning sent to @RTR_Liam on twitter!
@RTR_Liam – Constitution Hill
My horse to follow this year could be ‘over’ in just a few days when he runs in the Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown. However I think he’ll win comfortably and even go off favourite for the Supreme Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham. I think he looks a hurdler whereas Jonbon could be a future chaser and that could be the difference at the festival. Constitution Hill caught my eye (and many others) when he won at Sandown beating Might I and Outlaw Peter. Our Ratings had both Might I and Outlaw Peter as having run some very good performances and they were no match to Constitution Hill. I haven’t seen a more impressive novice hurdle win for a few years!
@ChrisGartner2 – Capodanno
Won a beginners chase (ahead of Gaillard Du Mesnil) keeping on well. Nice handicap experience over 3m over hurdles back end of last year. Be better over fences than hurdles.
T_J_Carroll – Naboo Attack
Really thought he was going to unleash this year. Was tanking in the HK Sprint when that fall occurred
James Watson – Dubrovnik Harry
The Harry Fry trained gelding ran a nice race on debut behind a potentially nice horse of Jane Williams’. He then returned to Exeter and blitzed the field including the horse who finished in front of him last time out. The step up in trip and experience certainly helped as did the heavy ground conditions. I’d expect to see him in a novice to gain some more experience and go from there.
Lewis Tomlinson – Bothwell Bridge
Bothwell Bridge when he goes 3m+ over fences would be one for me, should have a nice handicap in him and might be a Ladbrokes Trophy horse down the line
Jason Jackson – Jungle Boogie
Got a sneaky feeling he’ll run Bob Olinger close or turn him over. Gold Cup contender as a 9yo this time next year. At the moment he’s unbeaten & has won everything easily on the bit….and his trainer is ok too
Glen2302 – First Folio
Ground wasn’t right in the Steward’s Consolation Cup at Goodwood but will be a sprinter to look out for on fast ground.
Jamie Brownlow – Lexington Knight
Lexington Knight done well as a 2yr Old season in middle distance. But trainer aiming towards Ebor. So upping in trip in his 3yr Old campaign.
Peter Bell – Bellatior
Sometimes when I’m rating a weeks’ races a horse puts up a figure that forces you to go watch the race in question to check the visuals align with the groovy-looking stats. Following this one’s win in a Mares Bumper at Naas on 6th November, I did some checking and this half-sister to Altior did pretty much everything wrong on her racecourse debut, pulling hard and running about the gaff like a scared cat, but she has a hell of an engine and is tenacious too, which allied to her breeding and her trainer marks her out as one that’s going places.
