2 Each Way Potentials for the Cheltenham Festival Handicaps
With the handicap marks out yesterday for the Cheltenham Handicaps, could these be great Cheltenham handicaps each way potentials – let us know what you think!
Each Way Potential 1: Eamon An Cnoic @ 33/1 NRNB
Eamon An Cnoic is available at 33/1 NRNB with a few different bookmakers at the moment and on a strict Cheltenham formline with Spiritofthegames this is a crazy price. Sent off for this race last year at just 10/1 he ran a cracker to finish 4th behind 3 horses who all came into the race with big chances. RatingTheRaces TOP Rated Siruh Du Lac (9/2) was arriving on the back of 3 wins including over CD in the January, RatingTheRaces 2nd Rated Janika (3/1) had finished a head 2nd to Siruh Du Lac (6/1) at Cheltenham in the January. Spiritofthegames had finished a good 3rd in a Novice Handicap Chase at Cheltenham in the January and had previously finished 5th in the County Hurdle in 2018.
Eamon An Cnoic turned into the straight looking like he was going to be the biggest danger to Siruh Du Lac. He jumped the 2nd last upsides the winner & was only half a length down at the last. He very slightly faded up the hill to finish 4th beaten just over 3 lengths.
Spiritofthegames had finished a ½ length in front in 3rd place and he has certainly franked this form. He has since finished 2nd in December in the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup (beaten a head) and 2nd in the Cheltenham Trophy Handicap Chase in January beaten just ½ length by Cepage.
As such this year Spiritofthegames is 2lb higher on his new 149 mark whilst Eamon An Cnoic has dropped 1lb to 136. This effectively means he is 3lb better off with Spiritofthegames for being beaten just ½ length.
With Spiritofthegames between 12/1 and 16/1 for this race, Eamon An Cnoic is surely a great bet at 33/1 as he looks to have been targeted at this race for the whole season.
Each Way Potential 2: Remiluc @ 33/1 NRNB
Remiluc can be backed at 40/1 or 33/1 NRNB which looks very big considering he finished 2nd in this race in 2018 behind Mohaayed.
This year he returned with a moderate run at Sandown before running a cracker in the Betfair Hurdle finishing 3rd beaten just 1 length. Most importantly for this blog he was just a short head behind Ciel De Neige.
Remiluc has largely been ignored for this race despite this great effort. Ciel De Neige who was just a short head in front in the Betfair Hurdle is available between 7/1 and 10/1 for the County Hurdle. BOTH have been raised 4lb for this run and whilst you can argue there could be more to come from Ciel De Neige as he is only 5 years old, the fact that Remiluc is clearly still able to hold his own his price looks very big.
Remiluc’s new mark of 143 is actually 1lb LOWER than 2018 and with course and distance form of 212 he surely has to be considered here.
