Liam’s Horses To Follow – Day 3 of Cheltenham Festival 2020
Liam was tasked with finding just 1 horse to take out of each race from the Cheltenham Festival. Check out his Horses To Follow from Day 3 of the Cheltenham Festival below. He’ll be looking at them in more depth in upcoming blogs.
Marsh Novices Chase – Saint Sonnet
Saint Sonnet – travelled well in against some good rivals when lacking in experience. He had only made his British debut 16 days ago and is only a 5 year old and arguably will have more improvement to come. He looked to be finding things a bit tough and was shuffled back at half way from his mid-division pitch to near the back of the field. He picked up however and looked like he was going to get involved when he jumped the 3rd last well and latched on to the back of subsequent 3rd placed Faugheen. He didn’t find as much off the bridle as I’m sure connections were hoping for but he’s shown enough for a long way to suggest he will get better in time and clearly has ability.
I think the Marsh Novice Chase form should work out well with the front 3 all continuing to contest Grade 1 events whilst Saint Sonnet could well be pitched into a handicap next time out. Rated 145 would mean he could run in the Sussex Champion Chase at Plumpton (if racing is going ahead then) and this track and trip looks ideal.
