The Beaten Favourite (BF) flag

A BF badge next to a horse's name flags a beaten favourite: one that went off market leader last time out and got beaten.

A small BF badge next to a horse's name means it was a beaten favourite last time out, it started favourite and didn't win (a faller or pulled-up counts as beaten too). It's the kind of horse worth a second look: the market fancied it, so either it has an excuse to forgive, or a question to answer.

Hover for the detail

Hover over the BF badge and you get two things:

  • The run itself, where it finished, at what price, and where and when, for example "Beaten favourite last time out: finished 3rd at 9/4 (Naas, 12 May 2026)".
  • The trainer's record with horses running next time out after a beaten favourite, how many have won, with the profit/loss and A/E, set against the all-trainers average. That tells you whether this particular yard tends to bounce a beaten favourite straight back, or not.
The BF badge is on every racecard for all members, and it's on the horse name itself, so you'll spot it without turning any column on.
