None of the obvious Constitution Hill, Galopin Des Champs, Sir Gerhard, Honeysuckle types….for me these are a bit pointless in these blogs as everyone is aware […]

Horse To Follow in 2022!

Who is your horse to follow in 2022?

This is open to everyone so get your names and reasoning sent to @RTR_Liam on twitter!

@RTR_Liam – Constitution Hill

My horse to follow this year could be ‘over’ in just a few days when he runs in the Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown. However I think he’ll win comfortably and even go off favourite for the Supreme Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham. I think he looks a hurdler whereas Jonbon could be a future chaser and that could be the difference at the festival. Constitution Hill caught my eye (and many others) when he won at Sandown beating Might I […]

Quick-Fire National Hunt Thoughts

National Hunt Season 2020/2021 Quick-Fire Thoughts from Liam – 3rd November 2020

This week I highlight a potential horse for a County Hurdle and a Pertemps Final as well a horse I am really keen on if she runs at Kempton on the 27th December. There’s also 2 horses both owned and trained by the same owner and trainer that were dropped in the handicap at the weekend that I feel will be better next time!

Liam’s Horses To Follow – National Hunt 20/21 Season

Nicky Henderson

Shishkin is arguably the most boring horse in this list as it’s not like people didn’t see him win the Supreme Novices Hurdle. At the beginning of last season, I highlighted Shishkin in my Horses To Follow and highlighted the Supreme Novices Hurdle as the target. Honestly though my confidence waned during the season not in his ability but I was convinced Nicky Henderson was campaigning him with the Neptune Novices Hurdle as the target. The step up in trip and finishing strongly at Huntingdon still suggested to me that he will be in the intermediate […]

National Hunt Horses to Follow – 2016/2017

Avenir D’Une Vie
Avenir D’Une Vie ran in 6 NHF races between November 2015 and April 2016 winning twice and finishing 2nd once. He was thought good enough to contest both the Cheltenham Champion Bumper where he finished 7 lengths 12th and finished 5th in Irish Champion Bumper at Punchestown. At Cheltenham he turned into the straight travelling ominously well but found very little and this could have been down to the ground. Lavirco progeny have just a 7% strike rate on good going which he encountered at Cheltenham compared to a 14% strike rate on soft going and an even better 28% strike rate on heavy. Lavirco progeny also generally […]
