Choosing your AV windows (AV10 & AV3)

The AV10 and AV3 dropdowns in each race card's header let you set how many recent runs the averages use, race by race, and the ranks and colours recompute instantly.

Our AV columns average a horse's recent RTR scores: AV10 over the last ten runs, AV3 over the last three. But ten and three are just the defaults. Premium and Pro members can change either window on any race card.

Where to find it

At the top of every race card, next to the R Filter, you'll see two small dropdowns: AV10: and AV3:. Pick any number from 1 to 10 in either.

The moment you change one, the column recalculates for every runner in that race: the header relabels (choose 5 and AV10 becomes AV5, with its rank column becoming AV5 Rank), the ranks re-order and the colour shading redraws to match the new numbers.

Why you'd change the window

• Shorten it when recent form is what matters: a horse returning to form looks far better on AV3 or AV2 than on a ten-run average dragged down by old struggles.
• Stretch it when you want the long view of a consistent type, or to smooth out one freak run.
• Compare the two: a horse whose short window beats its long window is on the way up; the reverse is often a fading one.

A couple of details worth knowing: only rated runs contribute to the average, and if a horse has fewer rated runs than your chosen window, a small superscript number next to its value tells you how many actually counted.

Race by race, on purpose

The setting applies to the race card you're looking at and resets to the standard AV10 and AV3 when you reload. That's deliberate: the right window for a two-year-old sprint is rarely the right window for a veterans' chase, so you tune it where you're studying rather than setting a global preference and forgetting it's on.
