Your free Premium trial, given automatically
If Premium suddenly switched itself on a few days after you joined, nothing has gone wrong and you will not be charged. We hand new members a short free trial without being asked.
Most people sign up, have a look round the free account and never see what the paid ratings actually look like on a real card. So we stopped waiting to be asked. A couple of days after you join, if you have come back for another look, we turn Premium on for free for a few days.
You do not have to request it, there is no card involved, and there is nothing to cancel at the end.
How long you get
- Three days as standard.
- Seven days if you have entered the NAP Competition.
If you are already on a three-day trial and then enter the competition, the trial stretches to seven on the spot. You do not need to do anything, and we will email to say so.
How you will know
An email arrives when the trial starts, and the app shows a countdown so you always know where you stand. Your profile page reads Premium for the duration.
About a day and a half in, we send one more email pointing out the things people usually miss, because the commonest piece of feedback on a short trial is that somebody only found half of it. Near the end you get a reminder that it is about to finish.
If you have opted out of marketing email, the trial still runs exactly the same, you just will not get those messages. The countdown in the app still appears.
What it unlocks
Everything in a paid Premium plan:
- The full ratings grid on every race, with RTR Rank and RTR Score for every runner rather than the free first race only.
- The XLS and CSV downloads.
- The Premium racecard views, the Premium hovers and sections like Worth Knowing, plus the Premium dashboard cards.
Professional-only tools such as ProStats and International ratings stay Professional.
When it ends
Your account quietly goes back to Free. Nothing is charged, because we never took a card. You keep your login, your NagMe list, your competition record, the free first race every day and Free Ratings Friday.
If you want to carry on, there is usually a discount on the first month in the emails around the end of the trial. Prices are on How much does it cost?.
Why you might not have had one
The trial is for people who are new and genuinely having a look, so it goes to members who:
- Joined recently, within the last couple of weeks.
- Have never had free Premium before, including the welcome trial below and any trial we set up by hand.
- Have never had a subscription of any kind.
- Came back after the day they signed up. It is a trial of the product, so it waits until you are actually using it.
If you have subscribed before, you will not get one automatically, but do get in touch: we are usually happy to set something up so you can see what has changed.
This is not the same as the welcome trial
There are two, and you can only ever have one of them:
- This one, given automatically a couple of days after you sign up.
- The 5-day Premium welcome trial, which triggers the first time you ever enter the NAP Competition.
Whichever reaches you first is the one you get. See Do you offer free trials? for every route into a trial.
