Connecting your X account for the NAP Competition
Linking X is optional for everyone. Link it and your picks post from your own account; skip it and you still play for every prize.
The NAP Competition is free for everyone, and nobody needs an X (formerly Twitter) account to enter or to win. Linking one is an optional extra for players who use X: your daily picks are posted from your own account, and you get a few more things along the way.
What linking X adds
- Your entries posted for you. Each daily entry posts your NAP, NB and 3B from your account, with a link for others to join.
- Followers. Other players can follow you straight from Today's NAP Entries, and you can follow them back.
- Non-runner alerts on X. If one of your picks is withdrawn, you hear about it there as well as in the app.
- The Premium welcome trial. Free members who link X unlock the 5-day Premium welcome trial.
None of these affect your eligibility for prizes. Anyone can win, see the NAP Competition rules.
Who needs to connect
Nobody. If you do not use X, pick your horses as normal and choose Enter without X on the entry slip. Your entry is locked, timestamped and shown on Today's NAP Entries exactly like everyone else's.
How to connect
- Pick your NAP, NB and 3B on a racecard and open the entry slip as usual (see How to play).
- The slip offers a Link X Account (or Opt In with X) button.
- Click it, an X window opens, sign in and authorise RatingTheRaces.
- The window closes by itself, you'll see a confirmation, and your entry can now be submitted.
You only do this once, the connection is remembered for future entries.
What gets posted
When you authorise, a one-off post announces you've joined that day's competition. Then each daily entry posts your three picks from your account, with a link for others to join. If your X account is locked (private), the posts only reach your followers, but that makes no difference to the competition, because the site's own record on Today's NAP Entries is what counts.
When the connection stops working
If X declines a post (for example you've revoked the app's access), your next entry attempt will show the connect prompt again. Just click the button and authorise once more, that resets the connection. If it keeps failing, contact us and we'll take a look, or simply enter without X in the meantime.
