Connecting your X account for the NAP Competition

How-toall plansnew

Free members enter the NAP Competition by connecting an X account, and picks are shared publicly. Premium and Pro members can enter without connecting.

The NAP Competition is free for everyone, and the trade-off for Free members is a social one: you connect your X (formerly Twitter) account, and your daily picks are shared publicly from it. That's what keeps the competition open, honest and fun to follow.

Who needs to connect

  • Free members: connecting X is required before your first entry can be submitted.
  • Premium and Pro members: no requirement at all. You can still opt in if you'd like your picks shared, but you can enter without it. The 5-day Premium welcome trial doesn't change this, the exemption follows your paid plan.

How to connect

  1. Pick your NAP, NB and 3B on a racecard and open the entry slip as usual (see How to play).
  2. If you need to connect, the slip shows a message explaining the sharing requirement with an Opt In with X button.
  3. Click it, an X window opens, sign in and authorise RatingTheRaces.
  4. The window closes by itself, you'll see a confirmation, and your entry can now be submitted.

You only do this once, the connection is remembered for future entries.

What gets posted

When you authorise, a one-off post announces you've joined that day's competition. Then each daily entry posts your three picks from your account, with a link for others to join. Your X profile needs to allow public posts, that's also what makes you eligible for the winner shout-outs and prizes.

When the connection stops working

If X declines a post (for example you've revoked the app's access, or the account is locked), your next entry attempt will show the connect prompt again. Just click Opt In with X and authorise once more, that resets the connection. If it keeps failing, contact us and we'll take a look.

The full rules, including the public-posting requirement, are in the NAP Competition rules.
