We will be honest: this is not the easiest Saturday of the year to find selections on. The Ebor festival has just emptied the good horses out of the calendar and what is left is a scattered card across Goodwood, Sandown, the Curragh, Cartmel and Windsor.
The feature, and the race the day hangs on, is the Irish Cambridgeshire at the Curragh at 4:15, a Class 2 handicap over a mile worth £45,071 to the winner with 18 runners. We have a selection in it and we come to it below.
Before the selections, 2 races where we are not having a bet but will be watching closely, and those are free to everybody.
1:25 Goodwood: watching Lily Pink
Lily Pink (Charlie Johnston, Callum Shepherd) is our Top Rated, and we want to see whether she steps forward rather than back her to do it.
That was a small field and she was beaten by a Balding filly who went off favourite, but we thought it a good effort on debut and the sort of run a filly improves a long way from. There are a couple of interesting newcomers in here as well, which is the other reason to watch it. No bet, but we want to see it.
1:40 Sandown: Flower Show on debut
The other one we are looking forward to for its own sake. Flower Show makes her debut for Charlie Appleby with William Buick booked, and she is our 2nd rated on figures alone before she has run a yard.
She goes over 7f first time out and everything about her suggests she will want further than that in time. How she copes with the trip on debut is the question, and it is one worth 3 minutes of your Saturday.
