RatingTheRaces best National Hunt Trainer of the 2017 is…

Harry Fry

First up, the best Trainer is not necessarily the trainer with the most winner.  Some trainers get a stock of horses worth a fair few million, some have a stock of horses worth a few hundred thousand. It would be like comparing two racing car teams where one was stocked with a bunch of Lamborghini’s and the other was stocking some humble Skoda’s. What represents a great trainer, in our eyes, is a trainer who can train his horses, whatever calibre they may be, and place them in races where conditions they are most […]

A more detailed look into ProStats!

On the 01st of December this year we released ProStats for our professional membership level and the feedback has been very good indeed. The first thing you will notice about this blog is the reference to this being version 1.0 and this is because we are expecting a few upgrades very soon. In fact we may even get a couple drop for the beginning of this week.

So enough about how this feature is going to evolve, let’s take a quick dive into the current functionality with these 5 videos.

Melbourne Cup Preview

2017-12-08T12:06:30+00:00November 6th, 2017|

It’s the Melbourne Cup today and here is Liam’s preview!

Almandin:

The obvious starting point to the race as not only is he TOP RATED again but he also won the race last year when TOP RATED. He’s had 3 runs since which included a win at Flemington in September when easily winning a Listed race. Only 4th last time out when sent off the 6/5 favourite he was probably not really going for it as the winner of this race wins nearly 20 x as much prize money!

Frankie has been booked to ride this year and although 10lb higher, if we took out Heartbreak City (who was well handicapped) […]

The best 5 courses for our ratings!

Part 1 of the Series!

Now anyone worth their salt knows that ‘best’ means different things to different people, even internally here at RatingTheRaces this can be debated. From my (RTR-Aaron) perspective (as algorithm designer) our algorithm is trained to predict winners, so the ‘best’ courses are those where we can predict the winner with the highest degree of accuracy.

Other ways ‘best’ could be interpreted is by Profit and Loss or by ROI.

So let’s dig into the data, probably worth noting that our Top 5 can definitely change in the future. We can also touch on the worst course for our Ratings algorithm to […]
